Six Questions to Bring Clarity Out from Confusion

As a life coach, I am always praying that God will give me the wisdom and insight into the situations of the people that I coach. I pray that I will clearly see, and help others see, the big picture and how our actions and decisions impact our lives.

This scripture from Proverbs 2:19 helps me to trust in God’s promise that He will direct my path and give me the knowledge and wisdom in each situation.

“Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.”

If you are feeling like you just can’t think clearly or like your struggling to make a decision the first thing to do is what scripture tells us in James 1:5

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

Wisdom is seeking to understand God’s perspective in matters. His wisdom cuts through emotion and gets to the reality of the situation bringing clarity. The voice of wisdom speaks to what is best for the big picture. Wisdom takes a step back and thoroughly evaluates a situation before charging ahead.

It is helpful when asking God for wisdom to be very intentional and specific. Set aside time to have a meeting with God. Bring a pen and paper. Then set a timer for 5-10 min per question and when you ask Him sit quietly and really listen. Here are six questions that are helpful to ask:

  1. What is the truth in this situation about where I am at?
  2. What do I want to see happen?
  3. Does God want this for me?
  4. What steps do I need to take to get there?
  5. Is anything getting in the way?
  6. How can I give back to others once I achieve this?

One of the reasons these steps are not always easy for people is because to do them you need to sit quietly and listen. We live in a fast pace society where people think the answer is supposed to come quickly. God wants a relationship and He wants your time and devotion. After going through these steps remember that God has perfect timing, so waiting on Him is essential. While you wait get in His Word and keep going to Him to ask and listen. You will begin to recognize His voice and He will guide you with wisdom and clarity for your life!

Keep in touch and let me know how I can pray for you in your situation.
