Stuck in the Muck

Dear Coach,

I know I am supposed to forgive, and I do try, but I am trouble by memories and flash backs that keep me stuck. I just wish some of the things in my life never happened to me. How can I forget and be happy once again?

Dear Stuck,

Renewing our mind takes concerted effort. It is by no means passive and does take some planned work. This is where NLP- Neuro Linguistics Programming is very beneficial. Anything can be had for good or evil, including our imagination. This is what is meant in the bible when we are reminded to take every thought captive, 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are also counseled to think on that which is positive, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 We are commanded to forget the past, ”Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Isaiah 43:18. So precious, take some time to meditate on God’s word daily and plan your thoughts for the day. Use your imagination to envision those that have wronged you as the beautiful people they were created to be. Even when our flesh sees that which is wrong, we must see in the spirit and see how God created them.
